Marc Potocnik used Cinema 4D running on an Intel® Xeon® processor–based workstation to create breathtaking 3D reality in his project, "Apollinarisstr" (Ingredients to Realism). His ambitious artistic goal was to build, from scratch, a 3D, animated scene that resembled a found-footage film clip. To evoke realism, he introduced photorealistic images, naturalistic lighting, and handheld camera shakiness.

The Intel® Xeon® processor smoothly handled dense 3D scenes containing 12 million polygons. 25 GB of memory accelerated rendering for subsurface scattering, area shadows, ambient occlusion, and blurred transparencies. Using the Intel Embree ray-tracing library, Marc was able to reduce rendering time by nearly 50 percent.2 Before final rendering, he cleaned up the scene with Intel Open Image Denoise. Open Image Denoise applied machine learning (ML) algorithms and deep learning (DL) filters to the tedious task of denoising, saving Marc hours of manual labor.

Cinema 4D animator Can Erduman prefers an Intel® Core™ processor–based mobile workstation so he can split the workday between his home office and a shared office space. He exemplifies a growing number of 3D creators who prefer a hybrid work environment.

His workstation's high-performance CPU and high-capacity memory allow him to develop 3D workflows to the point of output processing, so he can work on pre-production, scene creation, lighting and rendering, and post-production in the quiet comfort of his kitchen. Professional artist Stefan Voigt uses his Intel® Xeon® processor–based workstation to seamlessly integrate 3D scans, high dynamic range image (HDRI) lighting setups, rendering software, and plug-ins into his Cinema 4D workflow. He created the mesmerizing 3D animated scene, "Elemental Form," relatively quickly using prebuilt volume objects and preconfigured lighting setups.

To get started, he imported 3D photogrammetry objects directly into his workflow. Gluing together thousands of anchor points to create a natural-looking landscape takes plenty of CPU processing. For rendering, Stefan used Adobe Photoshop, Quixel Mixer, Intel Embree, Open Image Denoise, and Adobe After Effects.4
